Okay, so today was a lazy day. I finished the Tron collage I started yesterday. Not exactly art but it was good to practice my other photoshop skills. I wanted a wallpaper with both Quorra and Gem, which I was able to find on the internet. I also wanted a cityscape from Tron. What I could not find was both. The ideal wallpaper for me is one with a cityscape and death and also features attractive women, so that was the genesis behind this particular piece. Voila!!

I used a tron city scape, laid a few recognizers on top and a light cycle, plus the Siren Gem and the naive yet super cute, Quorra.

Day 9 - Quorra

Still wanting to create some Tron fan art, I started this sketch of Quorra from Tron Legacy, based on this picture

Just a sketch so far but I will continue to work on it and hopefully get it colored.

TRON Legacy

So I recently saw Tron legacy and it was AWESOME!!! Needless to say I'm on a major Tron kick. I've bewen frequenting the Tron Sector again lately and I stumbled across this link, disc from the original Tron. So I was inspired to try and create my own, from the new movie.

Here it is.... tell me what you think!
The background is from the movie teaser trailer, I used it in the composition as a backdrop for the disc. I also made this icon...

Day 7

It's officially been a week since I started this, which is weird. It doesn't feel that long. Anyway I did some more figure drawing practice on the tablet, I think tomorrow I will do something else though, like work on an existing project.

Day 6

I forgot to post yesterdays drawing...I was in
somewhat of a block plus I am still pretty awkward
with the tablet so this is all I came up with.

Day 4 & 5

This was supposed to be a character for a Graphic Novel that Micah and I are writing, but it kind of turned into it's own thing.- Messina. Her outfit is basically weird pairings of clothes, like a jacket over a modified victorian style dress. This kind of led me and Aije and Cherith into looking at 18th century clothing, which is strange because just the day before I was thinking about this period. We all decided to draw women from that time period and so I made this young french lady of the court. Her name is Caprice, I'm quite pleased with her she came out far better than I had hoped.

Day 3

I got a little behind on posting the past few days, already. So here is the first day from the weekend. I really did 3 over the course of 3 days rather than 1 per day. This is from Saturday. I just did some coloring on an old drawing of mine. I like how it came out but it seems like I could get better at this still. Of course, there is always room for improvement.

The coloring reminds me of a worm, snake or newt, it kind of has a mother of pearl feel to it, which I like.

Day 2

My second effort. Not sure what I was doing today, just kind of a doodle but I kind of like how it came out. Nothing fancy but it doesn't really need to be.

DAy 1 - Starting off right or starting off, right?

Here is my first drawing, I am just learning to use my tablet so it's just a sketch. I also had Christmas choir practice tonight at church so I got a bit of a late start. Enjoy!

I'm hoping in the future, I might be able to turn this into something more, if so I will definitely post it here...

It Begins

I am setting off on a year long goal toward becoming a better artist, this idea was inspired by another blog I found online. Even today just announcing my intention, I feel resistance to even starting this but it's too late now :)

to that end I'm going to do be creating some piece of art everyday, even if it's just a sketch or practice. I want to improve my art exponentially in 365 days, mainly for a graphic novel that a friend and I are working on.

I've been putting this off for too long now and even though it's not quite the New Year, I want to get a head start on making things happen. I'm a Christian and not a buddhist, but there's a quote from Buddha that I really like, it goes:

"There are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth...not going all the way, and not starting." - Buddha

So today I resolve to take the first step and avoid the first mistake. I would like to ask the help of the community in avoiding the second one. I'm committed to breaking the cycle of not finishing things I start from this day forward.

Tune in tomorrow for Day 1 of my journey and my first creation.
